Abbey Wood is recognised for its caravan park positioned amongst the Abbey Woods. The woods boasts a park and a football pitch, and the neighbouring Bostall Gardens and Bostall Heath provide lots of sports facilities. An area of the woods is a site of special scientific interest because it has fossils that date back as far as 23-66 million years ago.
