Strathaven
Strathaven is a historical market town in South Lanarkshire, Scotland and is the biggest negotiation in Avondale. The community was approved a Royal Charter in 1450, making the Town of Strathaven a burgh of barony. The present approximated population is 7,500. The community is located on the edge of the strath of the Avon Water, around 6 miles (10 km) from Hamilton and 18 miles (29 kilometres) from Glasgow. The A71, which links Edinburgh and also Kilmarnock goes through the community. In the 2001 census the town had a population of 7,700. Strathaven has one senior high school and three primary schools - Kirklandpark Primary, Wester Overton Primary, as well as St Patrick's Primary. It also has a turf landing strip regarding 2 miles (3 km) to the north west on Lethame Road.
