Marlborough
Marlborough is a market town as well as civil church in the English area of Wiltshire on the Old Bath Road, the old highway from London to Bath. It boasts the second widest high street in Britain, after Stockton-on-Tees. The town gets on the River Kennet, 24 miles (39 km) north of Salisbury and also 10 miles (16 kilometres) south-southeast of Swindon. Marlborough has an oceanic climate somewhat affected by its inland setting and also at 124 metres' altitude is more vulnerable to frost than southern seaside locations. In 2004 Marlborough celebrated 800 years of its Town Charter. Among the parties were a street play by the Marlborough Players entitled Wheels of Time, and a see from HRH Prince Charles.
