Faringdon
Faringdon is a historical market town in the Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire, England. Within the historic limits of Berkshire, it is 18 miles (29 kilometres) south-west of Oxford, 10 miles (16 kilometres) north-west of Wantage and 12 miles (19 km) east-north-east of Swindon. It is a big church, its lowest parts extending to the River Thames in the north as well as its highest ground reaching the Ridgeway in the south. Faringdon was the western town in Berkshire up until the 1974 limit adjustments moved it to Oxfordshire. The civil church is formally Terrific Faringdon to distinguish it from Little Faringdon in West Oxfordshire. The 2011 Census provided a population of 7,121. On 1 February 2004, Faringdon was offered Fairtrade Town status, as the initial Fairtrade Town in South East England. It is the base for Faringdon Enterprise Gateway, which aids and suggests services in country west Oxfordshire.
