Faringdon
Faringdon is a historical market community in the Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire, England. Within the historical boundaries of Berkshire, it is 18 miles (29 kilometres) south-west of Oxford, 10 miles (16 kilometres) north-west of Wantage and also 12 miles (19 km) east-north-east of Swindon. It is a huge church, its lowest parts including the River Thames in the north as well as its greatest ground reaching the Ridgeway in the south. Faringdon was the westernmost community in Berkshire till the 1974 boundary modifications moved it to Oxfordshire. The civil church is formally Great Faringdon to distinguish it from Little Faringdon in West Oxfordshire. The 2011 Census offered a population of 7,121. On 1 February 2004, Faringdon was provided Fairtrade Town status, as the initial Fairtrade Town in South East England. It is the base for Faringdon Enterprise Gateway, which assists as well as suggests companies in country west Oxfordshire.
