Hungerford
Hungerford is a historic market town and civil church in Berkshire, England, 8 miles (13 km) west of Newbury, 9 miles (14 kilometres) eastern of Marlborough, 27 miles (43 kilometres) northeast of Salisbury and 60 miles (97 kilometres) west of London. The Kennet and Avon Canal passes through the community from the west alongside the River Dun, a significant tributary of the River Kennet. The confluence with the Kennet is to the north of the centre whence canal and river both proceed eastern. Services include schools, stores, cafés, dining establishments, and also facilities for the major national sports. The railway station is a small quit on the London to Exeter (through Taunton) Line. The parish was separated into four tithings: Hungerford or Community, Sanden Fee, Eddington with Hidden as well as Newtown and also Charnham Street. Leverton and Calcot were transferred to Hungerford parish from Chilton Foliat in Wiltshire in 1895.
