Welshpool
Welshpool is a community and also community in Wales, traditionally in the area of Montgomeryshire, but currently carried out as part of the unitary authority of Powys. The town is situated 4 miles (6.4 kilometres) from the Wales-- England border and low-lying on the River Severn; its Welsh language name Y Trallwng means "the marshy or sinking land". Welshpool is the 4th biggest community in Powys. In English it was originally known as Pool yet its name was altered to Welshpool in 1835 to differentiate it from the English community of Poole. It has a population of 6,664 (UK Census 2011), consists of much Georgian design and is simply north of Powis Castle. The regional economy is mostly based upon farming as well as local industry.
