Fencing is essential for both home and business buildings for many different reasons. It works as a border for home gardens and private land, serving as a measure of privacy or to keep people and animals in or out.
Features of wooden fencing include added house protection and visual appeal. By having a fence in position, it will become harder for trespassers to get into your home and garden. Ensure to choose a design that will look fantastic too, particularly if for home purposes.
We're able to give you around 4 wooden fencing contractors close to you, who can provide quotations for the work you would like done. You'll receive a house visit from specialists in Bathgate who will allow you to decide on the right style for your house before finishing the installation.
The fitting of a wooden fence will take less than one day to carry out, depending upon the size of area you'd like secured.
The regular cost of a new or replacement fence is approximately £20-£45 per foot, not including removing your existing fence which could cost an extra £5-10 per foot. The labour costs depend on the length and height of your fence, the number of posts and the material used. It will also differ among regions, so it's best to get a few quotes to see what the best price is in your area.

The town of Bathgate is located in Scotland's West Lothian. It is found close to the M8 motorway, 5 miles to the west of Livingston. According to the 2011 Census, Bathgate has a population of about 20,363. The town is to the south of the ancient Neolithic burial site at Carnipapple Hill, and there is proof of settlements at Bathgate from around 3500 BC. Bathgate was an industrial town for the duration of the industrial age. It was the home of Menzies' Foundry and British Leyland. There were two train stations during this time - Bathgate North and Bathgate South. A link operating from one station to the back of the other was established for the purpose of the coal mining industries as well as the foundries. Only 1 railway continues to exist, the Bathgate Railway Station, which has frequent trains to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Because of the closure of several industries in West Lothian by the middle of the 20th century, the town was part of a Special Development Area, leading to the town's necessary redevelopment. Those living in Bathgate take pleasure in a wide selection of shops, which are substantial contributors to the local economy. Opened at the end of the 19th century, the Co-operative halls historically served the community, being home to a bakery, a butchers, a funeral parlour, grocery, clothing and furniture retailers, and a dance hall. In spite of its closure in the 1980s, there is a selection of local and commercial chain stores. Bathgate has been home to several famous individuals, such as Sir James Young Simpson, a medical doctor who experimented with chloroform to find that it had anaesthetic properties that may be used in the course of childbirth, and David Tennant, a well-known British actor. For all your home improvements, make certain that you utilise trusted experts in Bathgate to ensure that you get the top quality service.

When it comes to fence ownership and responsibility, this is often a subject of dispute between neighbours and understandably so. Owning a fence comes with a number of responsibilities such as arranging and paying for the maintenance and more. Therefore, if you’re not yet sure who owns the garden fence, then you’d probably want to have that sorted to make sure your property stays protected at all times. In this post, we’re going to give you an insight into some of the rules guiding fence ownership in order to help you make informed decisions. Let’s take a look!
There’s no rule of thumb on whether you own the fence on the right hand or the left hand side of your property. Therefore, if you’ve heard any “rules that states otherwise, you can fling that out the window because not everyone will own the left hand side to their fence. The first way to determine who owns the garden fence or which side of the fence you’re responsible for is simply by looking. Although this is not guaranteed or a definite way to determine ownership, it can go a long way to give you a good idea. As you would have expected, fences are most likely built on the land that belongs to the boundary’s owner with the further edge of the fence making the actual boundary. As a result, you can determine a fence ownership simply by identifying where the frames are.
Also, you can determine fence ownership using the title deeds for an official and accurate answer. A copy should be given alongside your paperwork which is received when purchasing your house.
There are quite a few different types of garden fencing that are readily available, so you’ll have plenty to choose from. If you’ve got a strict budget, waney edge panel fencing is a good option. It’s made up of horizontal wood strips and is generally the cheapest type of fencing. Another good option is closed feather-edge panels. These are a really strong type of fence, made up of concrete posts and panels of vertical strips of wood. You can also get more decorative types of fencing with combinations of vertical and horizontal wood strips.
Not if they are under 1 metre high if next to a road or 2 metres high elsewhere. It’s always recommended to check with your neighbours and the local authority if you are unsure. Other restrictions may apply, for example if a fence might impact driver visibility on nearby roads.
The cheapest fence to install is, generally, a pressure-treated pine wooden fence at around £20 per linear foot. This includes the materials and labour costs. Wire fencing is technically cheaper at around £5 per foot, but it’s not a great material to use in homes as it looks unsightly and doesn’t provide any privacy.
