Bellshill is a town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is situated 10 miles to the south east of Glasgow city centre and 37 miles to the west of Edinburgh, in addition to being close to other towns including Motherwell, Hamilton and Coatbridge. Since 1996, it's been a part of the Greater Glasgow metropolitan area. With a population of approximately 20,000, a study by the Halifax Building Society suggested that in the 1st quarter of 2005, the town was the UK's homebuying hotspot, witnessing a rise in home prices by 46%. This resulted in the typical house price as being £105,698. It's suggested that the town dates back to the 17th century, which initially featured a line of quarry workers' homes belonging to Mr. Bell, the owner of a stone quarry to the south of the town. The development of Bellshill, nonetheless, mostly occurred following the closure of the quarry at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Development work has continued all through the twentieth century. Most recently, the Streetscape Project, a project which aims to achieve the town's regeneration and modernisation of the town centre, occurred between 2007 and 2010, which created a one way system around the main street and made the area more pedestrian-friendly. Since the middle of the 1980s, the town has been recognised particularly for creating respected and influential popular music, with bands which include the Soup Dragons, BMX Bandits and Teenage Fanclub emerging from the town. A Channel 4 television series, 'Sounds of the Suburbs', celebrated the music of the area, commonly referred to as the 'Bellshill Sound' or the 'Bellshill Beat'. For all of your home improvements, be sure that you employ reputable specialists in Bellshill to ensure you get the very best quality service.

When it comes to fence ownership and responsibility, this is often a subject of dispute between neighbours and understandably so. Owning a fence comes with a number of responsibilities such as arranging and paying for the maintenance and more. Therefore, if you’re not yet sure who owns the garden fence, then you’d probably want to have that sorted to make sure your property stays protected at all times. In this post, we’re going to give you an insight into some of the rules guiding fence ownership in order to help you make informed decisions. Let’s take a look!
There’s no rule of thumb on whether you own the fence on the right hand or the left hand side of your property. Therefore, if you’ve heard any “rules that states otherwise, you can fling that out the window because not everyone will own the left hand side to their fence. The first way to determine who owns the garden fence or which side of the fence you’re responsible for is simply by looking. Although this is not guaranteed or a definite way to determine ownership, it can go a long way to give you a good idea. As you would have expected, fences are most likely built on the land that belongs to the boundary’s owner with the further edge of the fence making the actual boundary. As a result, you can determine a fence ownership simply by identifying where the frames are.
Also, you can determine fence ownership using the title deeds for an official and accurate answer. A copy should be given alongside your paperwork which is received when purchasing your house.
It’s a good idea to talk to your neighbours before you start any work to avoid confusion along the way. But if the fence is definitely your responsibility and on your property, there’s no legal obligation to notify them. It’s also a myth that you need to erect a fence with the flush side without posts facing your neighbour’s property.
There are a number of reasons why disputes can arise between neighbours – all of which can be quite frustrating and challenging. In some cases, this can even cause serious friction and lead to an all-out war. When it comes to the topic of fencing, one of the most common questions that arises is whether or not you can attach something to your neighbour’s fence. If you’re having the same concern, then you’ve come to the right place. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into this to help you make informed decisions moving forward. Let’s take a look!
The short and simple answer to this question is no, you can’t attach anything to your neighbour’s fence. If your neighbour owns the fence and you’ve not obtained any permission to do so, then you’re not allowed to attach anything to the fence. Otherwise, you can get into serious trouble with your neighbour as well as the law. If you want to attach something or have the wall on your side painted using another colour, then there’s the need to get a permission from the owner. And while doing so, make sure you’re provided with a written permission so as to avoid problems later in the future.
Another question that mostly arises is what if your neighbour declines your request, is there anything you can do about it? Well, the answer to this is no, there’s nothing you can do about it unless you’re able to convince your neighbour otherwise. And you should know starting a neighbour war or being spiteful can only make matters worse for you.
Properly erected fences shouldn’t require a great deal of maintenance. Any rotting boards can usually be replaced without replacing the whole panel. Timber fencing should be stained every 2-3 years. General maintenance is something you can carry out yourself, however, larger works may need a qualified professional to come in.
