Barnehurst
Barnehurst is a town and district in South East London within the London Borough of Bexley. It's north east of Bexleyheath, and is 13 miles east south-east of Charing Cross. It is separated from North Bexleyheath by the A220 Erith Road.
The town was established just after the sale of land in 1881 to make the Bexleyheath loop line between Lewisham and Dartford. Its name comes from the name of the railway station, which was named after Colonel Barne, who owned a local home and was vice-chairman of the railway company. Now, the railway station runs trains in between London Charing Cross, London Victoria or London Cannon Street, through Lewisham and Eltham towards the west and Dartford railway station towards the east. There are 12 trains every hour for the duration of the week; on Sundays, there are four trains per hour. The railway station was openedto encourage the creation of homes. The Barnehurst Estate was constructed in 1926 which housed many people.
As well as the railway station, Barnehurst is served by 5 buses, one of which goes to the popular Bluewater Shopping Centre. There are limited purchasing or leisure opportunities within the town, so individuals frequently visit surrounding regions using public transport links or the primary roads.
Barnehurst is household for the non-league football club Phoenix Sports FC, which plays at Phoenimx Sports Ground.
