Parquet Flooring in Wells
Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to generate a distinctive design over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is an extremely fashionable flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching design can be best displayed. Parquet comes in a multitude of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a wide array of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor may come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed by using a series of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet flooring company will be able to suggest the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
