Parquet Flooring in Poole
Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to create a distinctive design over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very fashionable flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a multitude of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive variety of different woods, but oak is the most popular, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor will come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed by using a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet floor company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
