Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to generate a distinctive pattern over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet is available in larger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very stylish flooring solution which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching design can be best exhibited. Parquet is available in a multitude of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from a massive selection of different woods, but oak is the most popular, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor will come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which function several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is typically installed by using a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet flooring company will be able to recommend the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
The typical cost of Parquet flooring is £2000. Costs differ based on the materials and the provider selected. The upper price range can be as high as £2300. The material costs are mainly approximately £500
