Parquet Flooring in Coatbridge
Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to make a distinctive pattern across the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet can be bought in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely elegant flooring option which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best showcased. Parquet comes in a multitude of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive array of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor will come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is commonly installed using a series of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet flooring company can suggest the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
