Parquet Flooring in Birkenhead
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to make a distinctive design across the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is an exceptionally elegant flooring option which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the attractive pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from an enormous range of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is typically installed by using a series of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An expert parquet flooring company can suggest the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
