Parquet Flooring in Barton-upon-humber

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to generate a distinctive pattern across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet is available in larger tiles or planks to offer the same effect. Parquet floor is an exceptionally fashionable flooring product which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet is available in numerous different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from an enormous range of different woods, but oak is the most popular, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring can come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed using a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet flooring company can suggest the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.

Barton-upon-humber

Barton-upon-Humber or Barton is a town and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England. As outlined by the 2011 Census, the town features a permanent population of around 11066 people. It is located on the south bank of the Humber Estuary at the southern end of the Humber Bridge. It is 46 miles (74 km) east of Leeds, 6 miles (10 kilometres) south-west of Hull and 31 miles (50 km) north-east of the county town of Lincoln. Other neighbouring towns include Scunthorpe to the south-west and Grimsby to the south-east. The Barton Cleethorpes Branch Line via Grimsby ends at Barton-on-Humber train station. The A15 passes to the west of the town cutting through Beacon Hill, and features a junction with the A1077 Ferriby Road to South Ferriby. The B1218 passes north-south via the town, and leads to Barton Waterside. An Anglo-Saxon inhumation cemetery at Castledyke South, used in the late fifth or early sixth century till the late seventh century, was investigated and partially excavated in 1975. The skeletal remains of 227 people were found, including one person who had undergone, and survived, trepanning. The church was reopened in May 2007 as a resource for medical investigation into the development of diseases, and ossuary, containing the bones and skeletons of some 2750 persons whose remains had been removed between 1978 and 1984 from the 1000-year-old burial site, after the Church of England made the church redundant in 1972. The importance of the human remains is in the way they represent the pathology of an isolated group over the time period between 950 and 1850. An excavation report on one of England's most extensively investigated parish churches, including a volume on the human remains, was published in 2007.
