Faringdon
Faringdon is a historical market town in the Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire, England. Within the historical boundaries of Berkshire, it is 18 miles (29 km) south-west of Oxford, 10 miles (16 km) north-west of Wantage as well as 12 miles (19 kilometres) east-north-east of Swindon. It is a huge parish, its lowest parts including the River Thames in the north and its highest ground reaching the Ridgeway in the south. Faringdon was the westernmost community in Berkshire up until the 1974 border adjustments moved it to Oxfordshire. The civil church is officially Terrific Faringdon to identify it from Little Faringdon in West Oxfordshire. The 2011 Census offered a population of 7,121. On 1 February 2004, Faringdon was given Fairtrade Town status, as the very first Fairtrade Town in South East England. It is the base for Faringdon Enterprise Gateway, which assists and also advises organisations in country west Oxfordshire.
