Identify issue with damp in living room
Extensions including garage conversions will often require supplementary damp proofing to be added as part of conversion, as the existing garage normally has a single skin design for walls and floors, which was not designed to conform to building regulations for habitable rooms. This damp proofing will need to be added to walls and floors. In addition, the roof of the garage conversion will require water proofing. The damp proofing of the floor of the garage conversion will often be performed by using a damp proof membrane. This membrane is available in either solid or liquid form. The damp proof membrane will be placed down either on top of the existing concrete floor, underneath the new floor, or as part of both, depending on if the floor will be a solid or a floating floor. In a few garages, the walls have been damp proofed, but this may need to be improved as part of the conversion in order to meet current building regulations. The walls will need to be damp proofed to be able to safeguard the brickwork from rotting gradually as moisture sets in. This can be performed by either utilising damp proof membranes, waterproof rendering, or cavity insulation, depending on the type of walls already present in the garage. Damp proofing is an important part of the building regulations that the garage conversion will need to comply with, therefore is it necessary to ensure that your garage conversion incorporates appropriate damp proofing methods.
The average cost of Damp proofing is £1500. Costs vary based upon the materials and the organisation selected. The upper price range can be as high as £1725. The material costs are in general about £375

Marlow, (in the past referred to as Great Marlow or Chipping Marlow) is a town and civil parish within the Wycombe district in south Buckinghamshire, England. It is located on the River Thames, 4 miles (6.5 km) south-southwest of High Wycombe, 5 miles (8 km) west-northwest of Maidenhead and 33 miles (53 km) west of central London. Marlow is recorded in the Domesday Book as Merlaue. There has been a bridge over the Thames at Marlow ever since the reign of King Edward III. The existing bridge is a suspension bridge, designed by William Tierney Clark in 1832, and was a mock-up for the much longer Széchenyi Chain Bridge across the River Danube in Budapest. Marlow is served by a train station which is the terminus of a single-track branch line from Maidenhead. The train service is called the Marlow Donkey, which was the nickname given to the steam engines that previously operated on the line. There is also a pub with the very same name, situated near the railway station. Marlow Rowing Club, established in 1871, is among Britain's premier rowing clubs and has actually produced numerous Olympic oarsmen including Sir Steve Redgrave. The club is based by Marlow Bridge and exercises above and below the lock. The town has a football club called Marlow F.C. There are two regattas associated with Marlow; the Marlow Town Regatta and Marlow International Regatta. Earliest records indicate a regatta occurred every year on the River Thames in Marlow from 1855. The latter relocated to the purpose-built Dorney Lake, owned by Eton College, in 2003. Marlow still hosts its Original River Regatta which takes place each year in June. For all of your home upgrades, make sure to make use of trusted professionals in Marlow to make certain of quality.

Damp is a serious problem, particularly if you live in an old property, because it can lead to structural damage. This will cost you big money and could be very dangerous, to yourself and the property. Take damp seriously and get it inspected and resolved as soon as you discover it!
You should make sure that all signs of damp have gone before you redecorate your walls. If you want to paint your walls with a water-permeable emulsion paint, you can usually do this after 1 or 2 months. For other types of decoration you should wait longer.
There are a few visible signs of damp, although it often goes undetected. However, in older or empty properties, this made become detectable through its smell. These include peeling paint and wallpaper, crumbling plaster, mould growth, black spots or spores on walls and ceilings, and rotting skirting boards and flooring.
Signs of rising damp tend to be close to the ground, usually no higher than a metre. It usually works its way up walls in horizontal lines. Penetrating damp usually develops in patches and can often be much higher up. For more advice, speak to a damp proofing professional.
