Extensions such as garage conversions will typically require additional damp proofing to be installed during the conversion, as the existing garage routinely has a single skin design for walls and floors, which was not built to be in accordance with building regulations for habitable rooms. This damp proofing will need to be put into walls and floors. Additionally, the roofing of the garage conversion will need water proofing. The damp proofing of the floor of the garage conversion will most likely be performed by using a damp proof membrane. This membrane is available in either solid or liquid form. The damp proof membrane will be put down either on top of the existing concrete floor, below the new floor, or as part of both, depending on if the floor will be a solid or a floating floor. In some garages, the walls have been damp proofed, but this might need to be improved as part of the conversion in order to adhere to current building regulations. The walls will need to be damp proofed in order to protect the brickwork from rotting gradually as moisture sets in. This can be performed by either implementing damp proof membranes, waterproof rendering, or cavity insulation, depending on the type of walls that are already in the garage. Damp proofing is a part of the building regulations that the garage conversion should comply with, therefore is it necessary to make sure that your garage conversion employs suitable damp proofing methods.
The average cost of Damp proofing is £1500. Costs vary based upon the materials and the organisation selected. The upper price range can be as high as £1725. The material costs are in general about £375

Bankside is a district in the London Borough of Southwark. It is positioned around the southern bank of the River Thames, 1.5 miles east of Charing Cross. It is part of the business improvement district referred to as Better Bankside.
Bankside is the riverside of the former liberties of the Clink and Paris Garden. Through the Elizabethan period, these locations were outside the City of London’s jurisdiction so they became the homes of bear baiting pits and playhouses, which includes the Rose, the Swan and the Globe Theatre. There has been a great deal of regeneration in current years, becoming common with tourists. The skyline of Bankside is accentuated by the former Bankside Power Station, that is now the Tate Modern.
The Bankside 1/2/3 complex on Southwark Street is the most significant new development in the district. The three buildings house about 5,000 employees. Bankside 1 is also referred to as the Blue Fin Building and it is partially occupied by IPC Media, whilst Bankside 2 and 3 are occupied by the Omnicom Group Ltd.
From 2010, a lot of improvement schemes have transformed Blackfriars Road from the bridge towards the south at St. George’s Circus and new buildings stand in place of post-World War II offices. These buildings are residential and hotel accommodation along its length, particularly at the junction with Stamford Street exactly where lots of high rises happen to be built.

Damp is a serious problem, particularly if you live in an old property, because it can lead to structural damage. This will cost you big money and could be very dangerous, to yourself and the property. Take damp seriously and get it inspected and resolved as soon as you discover it!
You should make sure that all signs of damp have gone before you redecorate your walls. If you want to paint your walls with a water-permeable emulsion paint, you can usually do this after 1 or 2 months. For other types of decoration you should wait longer.
Signs of rising damp tend to be close to the ground, usually no higher than a metre. It usually works its way up walls in horizontal lines. Penetrating damp usually develops in patches and can often be much higher up. For more advice, speak to a damp proofing professional.
There are a few visible signs of damp, although it often goes undetected. However, in older or empty properties, this made become detectable through its smell. These include peeling paint and wallpaper, crumbling plaster, mould growth, black spots or spores on walls and ceilings, and rotting skirting boards and flooring.
