Wylam
Wylam is a village in the area of Northumberland. It lies about 10 miles (16 km) west of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is popular for the being the native home of George Stephenson, among the very early railway leaders. George Stephenson's Birth place, his cottage, can be discovered on the north bank of the Tyne 3/4 mile (1.2 km) eastern of the village centre. It is owned by the National Trust but is not open to the general public. Wylam has additionally links with the very early railway pioneers.
