Fencing is really important for all homes no matter whether it's the front or back garden. From restoration work to a full installation of new fencing, employing a reliable company is highly recommended to get the very best price available.

Fencing act as a perimeter to our properties and with an installation you'll add protection to your house and stop easy access to the back garden. Back garden fences are usually close to six feet high, which instantly makes it tougher for intruders to gain access.

Decorative fencing or wooden picket fencing tend to be most suitable for the front garden, where security isn't as important. Instead, you're more likely to select a front garden fence particularly for design and also to add something different.

For whatever style of fencing you're looking to have installed, ensure that you use our free and no obligation service to get the best deal available in Knaresborough.

Knaresborough

Knaresborough is a historical market town, spa town and civil parish in the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Generally an area of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is situated on the River Nidd, 4 miles east from the centre of Harrogate. The town is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as 'Cenheard's fortress', with the name of the region experiencing numerous adjustments over the next couple of centuries. The development of the town started around 1100, when it began to provide a market and bring in traders to service the castle. The town was not awarded a royal charter to affirm its status as a market town till 1310 by Edward II. A market continues to be held every Wednesday in the market square throughout the year. There are multiple landmarks littered across the town that draw in regular visitors. Some examples include the remains of Knaresborough Castle, the House in the Rock, the railway viaduct over the River Nidd, and St. Robert's Cave. Knaresborough is also home to 'Ye Oldest Chymist Shoppe' in England, which opened in 1720, a time in which there was much uncertainty about such establishments. The town is also host to a range of social and cultural attractions through the year. It has held the yearly Bed Race since 1966, which is organised by the Knaresborough Lions Club, and the Festival of Entertainment and Visual Arts (FEVA), an annual arts summer festival in the town centre, since 2001. There are 15 operating bars in the town, along with a wine bar and several eateries. For all your home upgrades, make certain to make use of reputable contractors in Knaresborough to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

Fence ownership: who owns that garden fence?

When it comes to fence ownership and responsibility, this is often a subject of dispute between neighbours and understandably so. Owning a fence comes with a number of responsibilities such as arranging and paying for the maintenance and more. Therefore, if you’re not yet sure who owns the garden fence, then you’d probably want to have that sorted to make sure your property stays protected at all times. In this post, we’re going to give you an insight into some of the rules guiding fence ownership in order to help you make informed decisions. Let’s take a look!

There’s no rule of thumb on whether you own the fence on the right hand or the left hand side of your property. Therefore, if you’ve heard any “rules that states otherwise, you can fling that out the window because not everyone will own the left hand side to their fence. The first way to determine who owns the garden fence or which side of the fence you’re responsible for is simply by looking. Although this is not guaranteed or a definite way to determine ownership, it can go a long way to give you a good idea. As you would have expected, fences are most likely built on the land that belongs to the boundary’s owner with the further edge of the fence making the actual boundary. As a result, you can determine a fence ownership simply by identifying where the frames are.

Also, you can determine fence ownership using the title deeds for an official and accurate answer. A copy should be given alongside your paperwork which is received when purchasing your house.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
What is the cheapest fence to install?

The cheapest fence to install is, generally, a pressure-treated pine wooden fence at around £20 per linear foot. This includes the materials and labour costs. Wire fencing is technically cheaper at around £5 per foot, but it’s not a great material to use in homes as it looks unsightly and doesn’t provide any privacy.

    How much does fencing cost?

The most basic fencing starts at about £27 per panel. But if you want something that’s more decorative and better quality, expect to budget £30-£40 per panel. If you choose to get a professional to help you put up your fencing, they’ll probably be able to get your panels at a cheaper rate.
