Are you considering having fencing installed in Knottingley? By using the Quotatis service you can assess as many as 4 fencing companies to get the top deal available for the task you need.

Fencing is extremely important for all houses no matter whether it's the front or back garden. From repair work to a complete installation of new fencing, using a reliable contractor is highly recommended to get the very best price available.

Fencing act as a border to our households and with an installation you'll add more security to your house and prevent easy access to your back garden. Back garden fences are traditionally around six feet high, which straight away will make it harder for intruders to gain entry.

Decorative fencing or wooden picket fencing are usually most suited for the front garden, where security isn't as important. Instead, you're more likely to pick a front garden fence particularly for design and also to add something different.

For whatever style of fencing you're wanting to have installed, make sure to make use of our totally free and no obligation service to get the best deal available in Knottingley.

Knottingley

Knottingley is a town within the metropolitan district of the City of Wakefield in West Yorkshire. It has a population of 13, 503, increasing to 13,710 for the City of Wakefield ward at the 2011 Census. It was originally an Anglo-Saxon settlement, though the ancient monument of Ferrybridge Henge reveals it had substantial indigenous habitation long before then. Knottingley means "the clearing of Cnotta's people", from the English personal name Cnotta meaning "knot", During the three Sieges of Pontefract Castle, Oliver Cromwell took residence in the town of Knottingley, thought to be in Wildbore House. Knottingley is a town whose history is tied to river travel and industry. It has actually worked to retain certain principles of that industrial history as succeeding enterprises today, providing jobs for many of its population of some 17,000. Glass making continues to be very important. The town was one of the few in the United Kingdom to have a working coal mine, Kellingley Colliery. The crossing over the Aire at Ferrybridge was of value for several centuries. A bridge was established there in 1198, and another to replace it 2 centuries later. Located on the Great North Road connecting London with York and Edinburgh beyond that, the town emerged as an important staging area for the coach traffic on that route. Near Knottingley is the Ferrybridge Power Station, which has the largest cooling towers of their kind in Europe. Three of these towers collapsed in high winds in 1965. These towers can be seen for miles around. One of the earliest purpose-built movie theaters in England, found in Aire Street, has been transformed into flats. Knottingley is a central point for horse racing fans, with tracks at Pontefract, York, Wetherby and Doncaster all nearby. For all your home improvements, make sure to find reliable specialists in Knottinhgley to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

    How to build a fence?

The best way to build a fence depends on what style it is, as different types have different components. However, fencing made up of posts and panels is pretty common. To put this up, you’ll need to start by measuring out and digging holes for your fence posts. Then you’ll need to fit the panels between them and use concrete to secure the posts in the ground.

Can I make my neighbour repair their fence?

For a lot of home and property owners in the UK, a common courtesy is being neighbourly and several people find it relatively easy to get along with the folks next door. However, for most individuals, where the major dispute arises most times is due to boundaries which can lead to impasse that may only be resolved through legal action. But since nobody wants that, when boundary issues become more than just passing a comment about the current condition of the fence, you may want to clue yourself up on what to do to get the desired action. If attempts have been made to talk to your neighbour to no avail, there are a couple of things you can consider to make “them next door repair their fence. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight on these things to help you make informed decisions. Let’s take a look!

Firstly, it should be stated that if the fence poses an immediate danger then the usual legalities doesn’t apply. In this scenario, you may need to report to the local council who’ll take the necessary action on your behalf.

    • Offer assistance. Since the cost of repairing a fence isn’t the cheapest thing to do, a lot of people might not be too eager to carry out this project and any friendly suggestion to do so may not be taken kindly. So if you feel that the this may be the issue, you can try offering some assistance to lessen the financial burden on your neighbour.
    • Put up your own fence. If all attempts fail, you can consider erecting your own fence. However, this must be on your own property and as close to the boundary as possible.
Fence ownership: who owns that garden fence?

When it comes to fence ownership and responsibility, this is often a subject of dispute between neighbours and understandably so. Owning a fence comes with a number of responsibilities such as arranging and paying for the maintenance and more. Therefore, if you’re not yet sure who owns the garden fence, then you’d probably want to have that sorted to make sure your property stays protected at all times. In this post, we’re going to give you an insight into some of the rules guiding fence ownership in order to help you make informed decisions. Let’s take a look!

There’s no rule of thumb on whether you own the fence on the right hand or the left hand side of your property. Therefore, if you’ve heard any “rules that states otherwise, you can fling that out the window because not everyone will own the left hand side to their fence. The first way to determine who owns the garden fence or which side of the fence you’re responsible for is simply by looking. Although this is not guaranteed or a definite way to determine ownership, it can go a long way to give you a good idea. As you would have expected, fences are most likely built on the land that belongs to the boundary’s owner with the further edge of the fence making the actual boundary. As a result, you can determine a fence ownership simply by identifying where the frames are.

Also, you can determine fence ownership using the title deeds for an official and accurate answer. A copy should be given alongside your paperwork which is received when purchasing your house.

Do I need planning permission for fences?

Not if they are under 1 metre high if next to a road or 2 metres high elsewhere. It’s always recommended to check with your neighbours and the local authority if you are unsure. Other restrictions may apply, for example if a fence might impact driver visibility on nearby roads.
