Tywyn
Tywyn, previously spelled Towyn, is a community, area, as well as seaside resort on the Cardigan Bay shore of southern Gwynedd, Wales. It was formerly in the historical area of Merionethshire. It is renowned as the place of the Cadfan Stone, a stone cross with the earliest well-known instance of written Welsh, as well as the house of the Talyllyn Railway. At the time of the 2001 census, 40.5% of the population were recorded as Welsh audio speakers. By the 2011 census this had lowered to 37.5%. These relatively high figures (offered the community's population analysis) reflect making use of both Welsh and also English as the tool of instruction in Ysgol Penybryn, the town's primary school. An Estyn assessment record in 2010 noted that about 11% of the children at the institution came from residences where Welsh was the main language.
