Guisborough
Guisborough is a market town and civil parish in the English county of North Yorkshire. It is within a unitary authority of Redcar and Cleveland, and in the Trees Valley region of the North East of England. Primarily for ritualistic reasons, it remains in the ritualistic county of North Yorkshire. Held every Thursday and Saturday, as well as on Tuesdays with the attendance of a couple of stalls, Guisborough market has had a standout place in the history of the town. At first selling mostly cattle and livestock, the market progressively evolved into a more basic market for such items as fruit and vegetables, clothes and flower stalls. It is held from the morning to late afternoon on the cobbles that line Westgate, the primary shopping street. Thanks to its spot around the ironstone mines of the North York Moors, the town also had a share in the success of the Industrial Revolution. According to the 2011 Census, the permanent population of the town is around 17777. Considerable property development occurred throughout the 1960s and 1970s with the expansion of the chemical industry at Wilton and the steel industry at Redcar. With no large companies in the town, the town has come to be a commuter town for Middlesbrough, with numerous residents operating in the chemical plants scattered around Teeside. Guisborough has a King George's Field in memory of King George V, and the town's football team, Guisborough Town F.C., plays on the King George V Ground.
