Dalton-in-furness
Dalton-in-Furness is a village of 8,125 individuals, north eastern of Barrow-in-Furness, in Cumbria, England. It is the second biggest negotiation in the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness after Barrow itself and also is most noted for being the place of South Lakes Safari Zoo. Dalton is discussed in the Domesday Book, composed as "Daltune" as one of the towns forming the Manor of Hougun held by Tostig Godwinson, Earl of Northumbria. Historically, it was the capital of Furness. The old parish of Dalton covered the location which is currently inhabited by the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness. The town is currently in the civil parish of Dalton Community with Newton. Historically a part of Lancashire, the town is connected with a number of popular musicians, consisting of George Romney.
