Marlborough
Marlborough is a market town as well as civil parish in the English area of Wiltshire on the Old Bath Road, the old highway from London to Bath. It boasts the second largest high road in Britain, after Stockton-on-Tees. The town is on the River Kennet, 24 miles (39 km) north of Salisbury as well as 10 miles (16 kilometres) south-southeast of Swindon. Marlborough has a nautical climate somewhat affected by its inland setting as well as at 124 metres' altitude is more susceptible to frost than southerly seaside areas. In 2004 Marlborough commemorated 800 years of its Town Charter. Among the events were a road play by the Marlborough Players entitled Wheels of Time, and also a browse through from HRH Prince Charles.
