Hungerford
Hungerford is a historic market community and civil church in Berkshire, England, 8 miles (13 km) west of Newbury, 9 miles (14 km) east of Marlborough, 27 miles (43 kilometres) northeast of Salisbury and also 60 miles (97 kilometres) west of London. The Kennet and Avon Canal travels through the community from the west along with the River Dun, a major tributary of the River Kennet. The convergence with the Kennet is to the north of the centre whence canal and river both continue eastern. The train station is a small stop on the London to Exeter (using Taunton) Line. The parish was separated into 4 tithings: Hungerford or Community, Sanden Fee, Eddington with Hidden as well as Newtown and also Charnham Street. North and South Standen and Charnham Street were formally detached parts of Wiltshire until moved to Berkshire in 1895. Leverton as well as Calcot were transferred to Hungerford parish from Chilton Foliat in Wiltshire in 1895.
