Faringdon
Faringdon is a historic market town in the Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire, England. Within the historical borders of Berkshire, it is 18 miles (29 kilometres) south-west of Oxford, 10 miles (16 kilometres) north-west of Wantage as well as 12 miles (19 kilometres) east-north-east of Swindon. It is a big parish, its lowest parts extending to the River Thames in the north and also its highest possible ground getting to the Ridgeway in the south. Faringdon was the westernmost town in Berkshire up until the 1974 boundary modifications transferred it to Oxfordshire. The civil church is officially Great Faringdon to distinguish it from Little Faringdon in West Oxfordshire. The 2011 Census gave a population of 7,121. On 1 February 2004, Faringdon was provided Fairtrade Town status, as the initial Fairtrade Town in South East England. It is the base for Faringdon Enterprise Gateway, which helps and also recommends services in country west Oxfordshire.
