Dalton-in-furness
Dalton-in-Furness is a village of 8,125 people, north eastern of Barrow-in-Furness, in Cumbria, England. It is the 2nd largest settlement in the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness after Barrow itself as well as is most kept in mind for being the area of South Lakes Safari Zoo. Dalton is pointed out in the Domesday Book, written as "Daltune" as one of the areas creating the Manor of Hougun held by Tostig Godwinson, Earl of Northumbria. Historically, it was the resources of Furness. The old church of Dalton covered the location which is now occupied by the Borough of Barrow-in-Furness. The community is now in the civil church of Dalton Town with Newton. Historically a part of Lancashire, the town is associated with a number of renowned artists, including George Romney.
