Parquet Flooring in Peterculter
Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to make a distinctive design over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is a very elegant flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in numerous different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a massive array of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor will come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is typically installed using a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet flooring company can suggest the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
