Wigton
Wigton is a market town in Cumbria, England. Historically in Cumberland, it exists just outside the Lake District in the borough of Allerdale. Wigton goes to the centre of the Solway Level, in between the Caldbeck Fells as well as the Solway coastline. It is offered by Wigton railway station on the Cumbrian Coast Line, and the A596 road to Workington. The town of Silloth-on-Solway exists twelve miles to the west, past Abbeytown. Wigton today is a thriving market town, with animals auctions being held routinely at Hopes Auction Company. The primary employer is Innovia Films. The community has its own senior high school, called The Nelson Thomlinson Institution, which is a well-performing detailed with close links to the Innovia manufacturing facility. In 2004 the town was the very first negotiation in the UK to enforce a curfew on teens under the age of 16. It remained in location for two weeks, and also its purpose was to decrease the amount of vandalism in the town centre. It followed nighttime vandalism campaigns, that included shattered shop fronts, as well as intimidation of elderly participants of the community. The curfew attracted national attention, with the regional senior high school receiving gos to from agencies such as Sky News. It had some impact, with much less vandalism happening since.
