Cockermouth
Cockermouth is an ancient market community as well as civil parish in the Borough of Allerdale in Cumbria, England, so named because it is at the confluence of the River Cocker as it moves into the River Derwent. The mid-2010 census estimates state that Cockermouth has a population of 8,204, raising to 8,761 at the 2011 Census. Historically a part of Cumberland, Cockermouth is located outside the English Lake District on its northwest edge. Much of the architectural core of the community continues to be unmodified given that the basic middle ages format was completed the 18th and 19th centuries. The regenerated market area is now a main historic focus within the community and reflects events from its 800-year history. The town is prone to flooding and also experienced extreme floodings in 2005, 2009, and also 2015.
