Brackley
Brackley is a town in south Northamptonshire. It is around 19 miles (31 km) from Oxford and 22 miles (35 kilometres) from Northampton. Inititally a market town based on the wool and lace trade, it was constructed on the intersection of trade routes between London, Birmingham and the English Midlands and between Cambridge and Oxford. Brackley has a permanent population of around 13,018 (2011 Census) which has increased considerably from 2,467 in 1901. The town was the site of an important meeting among the barons and representatives of the King in 1215, the year of the Magna Carta. In 1602, the metaphysical poet John Donne was elected as Member of Parliament for the Brackley constituency. Brackley is near the Silverstone racing circuit, and boasts some industry related to Formula One racing, notably the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team which is based within the town, as well as the Force India F1 team which runs a wind tunnel on the old site of the north railway station. On the east outskirts of the town is H. Bronnley & Co., manufacturers of hand-made soaps who hold Royal Warrants of Appointment for supplying Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Wales. The Brackley Morris Men are one of only seven 'traditional Cotswold' Morris dancing sides remaining in England and the only one still running in Northamptonshire. Their history dates back to the 1600s when a solid silver communion plate was given to the parish. The plate which remains in the possession of St Peters Church is dated 1623, and is inscribed with the names of seven men, whom local folklore believes to have been the morris dancers. Brackley boasts football, rugby and tennis clubs. For all your home improvement jobs, make certain that you use trustworthy experts in Brackley to ensure you get a good quality service.
