Dunmow
Great Dunmow is a historical market town and also civil parish in the Uttlesford area of Essex, England. It is positioned on the north of the A120 road, roughly midway between Bishop's Stortford as well as Braintree, 6 miles east of London Stansted Airport. Originally the site of a Roman settlement on Stane Street, the town thrived throughout the Middle Ages. Lots of structures survive from this duration, including a sixteenth-century city center. Dunmow indicates "Meadow on the Hill". [4] The settlement was otherwise described as Dunmow Magna, Much Dunmow, or many frequently Great Dunmow. Great Dunmow borders the previous estate of Easton Lodge in the neighbouring church of Little Easton, a lodge coming from the Maynard household. The most notable participant, Frances Maynard, became the Countess of Warwick and later a mistress of King Edward VII. As the Prince of Wales he was reportedly a routine site visitor to the Estate, travelling from London on the train to Easton Lodge train station. The initials "CW" show up on a number of Victorian age properties in Great Dunmow. Known as Daisy Greville, Countess of Warwick she was a charitable philanthropist in the neighborhood community. As of 2018, Robert Nicholson is Emeritus Mayor of Great Dunmow.
