Carrbridge
Carrbridge is a town in Badenoch and also Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands. It lies off the A9 on the A938, west of Skye of Curr, southeast of Tomatin, near Bogroy. It has the oldest rock bridge in the Highlands and also the close-by old yearn woodland has the Landmark Forest Adventure Park. Carrbridge is about 10 km (6 mi) north of Aviemore and creates an entrance to the Cairngorms National Forest. It was a very early centre for winter sports in Scotland. In the 2001 census the village had a population of 708 individuals, with the majority used in tourist. Till the 1980s bypass was created, the A9 ran right with the town. Carrbridge is offered by Carrbridge railway station on the Highland Main Line. Regional dispute still rages concerning the name Carrbridge itself, with some liking to see it hyphenated to Carr-bridge. Words "Carr" has nothing to do with motorised transport but is originated from the Old Norse word for boggy location.
