Carrbridge
Carrbridge is a town in Badenoch and Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands. It exists off the A9 on the A938, west of Skye of Curr, southeast of Tomatin, near Bogroy. It has the oldest rock bridge in the Highlands as well as the nearby old pine woodland includes the Landmark Forest Adventure Park. Carrbridge is about 10 kilometres (6 mi) north of Aviemore and creates a gateway to the Cairngorms National Forest. It was an early centre for skiing in Scotland. In the 2001 census the town had a population of 708 individuals, with the majority used in tourist. Until the 1980s bypass was constructed, the A9 ran directly with the village. Carrbridge is served by Carrbridge railway station on the Highland Main Line. Regional debate still raves pertaining to the name Carrbridge itself, with some favoring to see it hyphenated to Carr-bridge. The word "Carr" has nothing to do with motorised transportation however is originated from the Old Norse word for boggy area.
