Brockenhurst is the largest village by population within the New Forest in Hampshire, England. The nearby city is Southampton some 13 miles (21 kilometres) to the North East, while Bournemouth is also close by, 15 miles (24 kilometres) South West. Surrounding communities as well as villages consist of Beaulieu, Lymington, Lyndhurst, and Guide. The western part of the village substantially expanded in the 1970s as well as, in the early 1990s, Berkeley Homes built Ober Park, which is currently referred to as The Coppice, this despite having actually been known as Staffs (or variants thereof) from the 13th to 19th centuries. Extra building and construction of the town still proceeds today by Pennyfarthing Homes. Brockenhurst is twinned with Pont St Martin, in Loire-Atlantique, France and has a population of 3,552 individuals (at 2011).
