Damp Proofing in Barton-upon-humber

Extensions such as garage conversions will often require additional damp proofing to be added through the conversion, as the existing garage will often have a single skin design for walls and floors, which was not manufactured to comply with building regulations for habitable rooms. This damp proofing should be put into walls and floors. Additionally, the roofing of the garage conversion will need water proofing. The damp proofing for the floor of the garage conversion will often be performed by employing a damp proof membrane. This membrane is available in either solid or liquid form. The damp proof membrane will be placed down either on top of the pre-existing concrete floor, below the new floor, or as part of both, depending on if the floor will be a solid or a floating floor. In some garages, the walls will have already been damp proofed, but this might need to be improved as part of the conversion to be able to adhere to current building regulations. The walls will need to be damp proofed to be able to protect the brickwork from rotting slowly as moisture sets in. This can be carried out by either employing damp proof membranes, waterproof rendering, or cavity insulation, depending on the type of walls that are already present in the garage. Damp proofing is an important part of the building regulations that the garage conversion should comply with, therefore is it necessary to ensure that your garage conversion incorporates suitable damp proofing methods.

Barton-upon-humber

Barton-upon-Humber or Barton is a town and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England. In accordance with the 2011 Census, the town features a permanent resident population of around 11066 people. It's situated on the south bank of the Humber Estuary at the southern end of the Humber Bridge. It is 46 miles (74 kilometres) east of Leeds, 6 miles (10 kilometres) south-west of Hull and 31 miles (50 km) north-east of the county town of Lincoln. Other closeby towns include Scunthorpe to the south-west and Grimsby towards the south-east. The Barton Cleethorpes Branch Line through Grimsby terminates at Barton-on-Humber railway station. The A15 passes to the west of the town cutting through Beacon Hill, and features a junction with the A1077 Ferriby Road to South Ferriby. The B1218 passes north-south via the town, and leads to Barton Waterside. An Anglo-Saxon inhumation cemetery at Castledyke South, in use in the late 5th or early 6th century till the late 7th century, was investigated and partly excavated in 1975. The skeletal remains of 227 people were found, including one person who had undergone, and survived, trepanning. The church was reopened in May 2007 as a resource for medical research into the development of illnesses, and ossuary, containing the bones and skeletons of some 2750 persons whose remains were removed between 1978 and 1984 from the 1000-year-old burial site, after the Church of England made the church redundant in 1972. The importance of the human remains is in the way they represent the pathology of an isolated community over the period of time around 950 and 1850. An excavation report on one of England's most extensively investigated parish churches, including a volume on the human remains, was published in 2007.
