Barnehurst
Barnehurst is a town and district in South East London inside the London Borough of Bexley. It is north east of Bexleyheath, and is 13 miles east south-east of Charing Cross. It's separated from North Bexleyheath by the A220 Erith Road.
The town was established just after the sale of land in 1881 to make the Bexleyheath loop line between Lewisham and Dartford. Its name comes from the name of the railway station, which was named after Colonel Barne, who owned a nearby home and was vice-chairman of the railway company. Nowadays, the railway station runs trains in between London Charing Cross, London Victoria or London Cannon Street, through Lewisham and Eltham towards the west and Dartford railway station towards the east. There are 12 trains each hour for the duration of the week; on Sundays, there are four trains an hour. The railway station was openedto encourage the building of homes. The Barnehurst Estate was constructed in 1926 which housed a lot of individuals.
As well as the railway station, Barnehurst is served by five buses, one of which goes to the well-liked Bluewater Shopping Centre. There are not many purchasing or leisure opportunities in the town, so people generally visit surrounding places using public transport links or the primary roads.
Barnehurst is residence to the non-league football club Phoenix Sports FC, which plays at Phoenimx Sports Ground.
