Ambleside
Ambleside is a community in Cumbria, in North West England. Historically in Westmorland, it is located at the head of Windermere, England's biggest natural lake. The town is within the Lake District National Forest. Ambleside is carried out by South Lakeland District Council and also types part of the Lakes civil parish however from 1894 to 1935 it was a different urban area council. Ferries (still called "steamers", although now diesel powered) run to Bowness-on-Windermere as well as Lakeside using fine views of the lake as well as surrounding mountains. Ambleside is a base for hiking, mountaineering and hill biking. It has a number of hotels, guest houses, bars and also restaurants as well as shops.
