Wigton
Wigton is a market community in Cumbria, England. Historically in Cumberland, it exists just outside the Lake District in the district of Allerdale. Wigton goes to the centre of the Solway Plain, in between the Caldbeck Fells and also the Solway coastline. It is served by Wigton railway station on the Cumbrian Coast Line, as well as the A596 road to Workington. The community of Silloth-on-Solway exists twelve miles to the west, past Abbeytown. Wigton today is a thriving market community, with animals auctions being held frequently at Hopes Auction Company. The primary company is Innovia Films. In 2004 the town was the first negotiation in the United Kingdom to impose a time limit on young adults under the age of 16.
