Fencing in Hythe

Are you interested in getting fencing installed in Hythe? By using the Quotatis service you'll be able to do a comparison of up to 4 fence companies in order to get the very best deal available for the job you want.

Fencing is very important for all households whether it be the front or back garden. From maintenance work to a total installation of new fencing, working with a respected contractor is highly advised to get the best price available.

Fences work as a perimeter to our properties and with an installation you'll add more protection to your property and prevent easy access to the back garden. Back garden fences are traditionally close to 6 feet high, which straight away makes it tougher for intruders to gain entry.

Decorative fences or wooden picket fencing tend to be most suited for the front garden, where security isn't as vital. Instead, you're more likely to pick a front garden fence particularly for design in order to add something different.

For whatever sort of fencing you're wanting to have installed, make certain to use our free and no obligation service to get the best deal available in Hythe.

Hythe

Hythe is a modest coastal market town on the border of Romney Marsh, in the District of Shepway on the south coast of Kent in England. Hythe can be found on the northern terminus of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, which runs parallel to the coast. Opening in 1927, the trains operate on a gauge measuring 380 millimetres and the track is about 14 miles long. According to the 2011 Census, Hythe has a permanent resident population of around 14516. The town's name pertains to the Old English term meaning 'Haven' or 'Landing Place'. Located in the town is a broad number of medieval and Georgian era buildings, not to forget the Saxon and Norman age church on the hill and a Victorian seafront promenade. Hythe was a settlement that was defended by two castles at one point in its past history, relating to Saltwood Castle and Lympne Castle. As an essential Clinique Port, Hythe once did have a dynamic harbour, which has disappeared altogether over the past 300 years because of silting. The Town Hall, previously a Guildhall, was erected in 1794, with its fireplace being produced by the Adam Brothers. Close to the current Farmers' Market that is held in the town every second and 4th Saturday of the month, Hythe's medieval market used to occur in Market Square, which is now known as Red Lion Square. There many social and sporting activities offered to locals in the form of gardening, horse riding, bowling, tennis, cricket, football, squash and cruising clubs. For all your home upgrades, make certain to make use of reliable contractors in Hythe to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

    How to build a fence?

The best way to build a fence depends on what style it is, as different types have different components. However, fencing made up of posts and panels is pretty common. To put this up, you’ll need to start by measuring out and digging holes for your fence posts. Then you’ll need to fit the panels between them and use concrete to secure the posts in the ground.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
Can I attach something to my neighbour’s fence?

There are a number of reasons why disputes can arise between neighbours – all of which can be quite frustrating and challenging. In some cases, this can even cause serious friction and lead to an all-out war. When it comes to the topic of fencing, one of the most common questions that arises is whether or not you can attach something to your neighbour’s fence. If you’re having the same concern, then you’ve come to the right place. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into this to help you make informed decisions moving forward. Let’s take a look!

The short and simple answer to this question is no, you can’t attach anything to your neighbour’s fence. If your neighbour owns the fence and you’ve not obtained any permission to do so, then you’re not allowed to attach anything to the fence. Otherwise, you can get into serious trouble with your neighbour as well as the law. If you want to attach something or have the wall on your side painted using another colour, then there’s the need to get a permission from the owner. And while doing so, make sure you’re provided with a written permission so as to avoid problems later in the future.

Another question that mostly arises is what if your neighbour declines your request, is there anything you can do about it? Well, the answer to this is no, there’s nothing you can do about it unless you’re able to convince your neighbour otherwise. And you should know starting a neighbour war or being spiteful can only make matters worse for you.

Do I need to dispose of the old fencing myself?

Most responsible contractors will dispose of the old fencing via an approved commercial waste site. Do check that the cost of taking rubbish away is included in the quotes you receive, otherwise you might find you get stung when it comes to paying for the work.
