Fencing in Cambridge

In search of wooden fencing installers in Cambridge? Our wooden fencing installers in Cambridge are able to provide you the most beneficial quotations to have wood fencing installed.

Fencing is needed both for residential and business properties for many different reasons. It acts as a boundary for back gardens and private land, serving as a measure of privacy as well as to keep people and animals in or out.

Perks of wood fencing include extra house protection and aesthetic appeal. By having a fence in position, it will become harder for trespassers to gain access to your house and garden. Make sure to pick out a design that will look good too, particularly if for property reasons.

We will supply you with up to four wooden fencing contractors in the area, who'll supply quotes for the work you would like carried out. You'll be given a house visit from professionals in Cambridge who'll help you to select the right design for your house before completing the installation.

The fitting of a wood fence will need less than one day to carry out, depending on size of area you'd like guarded.

Average Wooden fencing cost in Cambridge

The regular cost of a new or replacement fence is approximately £20-£45 per foot, not including removing your existing fence which could cost an extra £5-10 per foot. The labour costs depend on the length and height of your fence, the number of posts and the material used. It will also differ among regions, so it's best to get a few quotes to see what the best price is in your area.

The city by itself just has a populace of 125,000 yet pulls in plenty of tourism with the river interest and other activities. There's an array of homes within the city as well with older and modern day properties, so no matter if it's insulation or green technologies, ensure that you keep your Cambridge household up-to-date.

    FAQs

What types of garden fencing are available?

There are quite a few different types of garden fencing that are readily available, so you’ll have plenty to choose from. If you’ve got a strict budget, waney edge panel fencing is a good option. It’s made up of horizontal wood strips and is generally the cheapest type of fencing. Another good option is closed feather-edge panels. These are a really strong type of fence, made up of concrete posts and panels of vertical strips of wood. You can also get more decorative types of fencing with combinations of vertical and horizontal wood strips.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
    How to build a fence?

The best way to build a fence depends on what style it is, as different types have different components. However, fencing made up of posts and panels is pretty common. To put this up, you’ll need to start by measuring out and digging holes for your fence posts. Then you’ll need to fit the panels between them and use concrete to secure the posts in the ground.

What do I need to do to maintain my fence?

Properly erected fences shouldn’t require a great deal of maintenance. Any rotting boards can usually be replaced without replacing the whole panel. Timber fencing should be stained every 2-3 years. General maintenance is something you can carry out yourself, however, larger works may need a qualified professional to come in.
