Bucknell

Bucknell is a town and also civil parish in south Shropshire, England. The village pushes the River Redlake, within 660 yards (600 m) of the River Teme and near to the border of Wales as well as Herefordshire. It is about 6 miles (9.7 km) eastern of Knighton and is established within the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The name is originated from Old English and indicates 'Bucca's hill' or 'he-goats' hill'. The town has the "P"s determined by Country Life as necessary to a successful town: a bar, a post office, a place of worship, a primary school and public transportation. Regardless of more homes, the number of people staying in Bucknell has gone down. The population of the village in 1811 Census was 226. At the end of the 19th century this had actually risen to 546. In the 1981 Census the population of the town was 494; in 1991 the population of the parish (possibly consisting of Bedstone) was 601 consisting of some 250 houses as well as in 2001 it was 642 in 294 homes.
