Fencing in Abergavenny

Are you considering getting fencing installed in Abergavenny? Using the Quotatis service you are able to compare and contrast up to four fencing contractors to get the best deal available for the work you want.

Fencing is extremely important for all homes no matter whether it's the front or back garden. From restoration work to a total installation of new fencing, working with a respected company is highly advised to get the very best price available.

Fences act as a border to our properties and with an installation you'll add security to your property preventing easy access to the back garden. Back garden fences are traditionally around six feet high, which instantly makes it harder for intruders to gain access.

Decorative fencing or wooden picket fencing tend to be best suited for the front garden, where security isn't as paramount. Instead, you're more likely to choose a front garden fence particularly for decoration in order to add something different.

For whatever type of fencing you're looking to have installed, be sure you use our free and no obligation service to get the best deal available in Abergavenny.

Abergavenny

Abergavenny is a market town in Monmouthshire, Wales. It is about 15 miles west of Monmouth on two dual carriageways, and also 6 miles from the English border. Because of this , the town is often regarded as the 'Gateway to Wales'. Located at the convergence of a tributary stream, the Gavenny and the River Usk, it is practically completely surrounded by two mountains, the Blorenge and the Sugar Loaf, and five hills. It offers a path to the Black Mountains as well as the Brecon Beacons National Park. The Offa's Dyke Path is nearby and the Marches Way, the Beacons Way and Usk Valley Walk all pass through the town. Traditionally the site of a Roman fort, Gobannium, it developed into a medieval walled town within the Welsh Marches. According to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent resident population of 10078. Within this population, approximately 10% speak Welsh, seeming to increase significantly from the 2% recorded in 1991. The town contains the remains of a medieval stone castle constructed not long after the Norman invasion of Wales. As a traditional market town, a wide variety of markets are held in the Market Hall, including a retail market, a farmers' market, an antique fair and a craft fair. The town was in addition host to the 2016 National Eisteddfod of Wales, an annual celebration of the culture and language in Wales. It draws in over 150000 visitors and more than 250 stalls every year. For all your house upgrades, make sure to make use of trustworthy specialists in Abergavenny to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

Can I make my neighbour repair their fence?

For a lot of home and property owners in the UK, a common courtesy is being neighbourly and several people find it relatively easy to get along with the folks next door. However, for most individuals, where the major dispute arises most times is due to boundaries which can lead to impasse that may only be resolved through legal action. But since nobody wants that, when boundary issues become more than just passing a comment about the current condition of the fence, you may want to clue yourself up on what to do to get the desired action. If attempts have been made to talk to your neighbour to no avail, there are a couple of things you can consider to make “them next door repair their fence. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight on these things to help you make informed decisions. Let’s take a look!

Firstly, it should be stated that if the fence poses an immediate danger then the usual legalities doesn’t apply. In this scenario, you may need to report to the local council who’ll take the necessary action on your behalf.

    • Offer assistance. Since the cost of repairing a fence isn’t the cheapest thing to do, a lot of people might not be too eager to carry out this project and any friendly suggestion to do so may not be taken kindly. So if you feel that the this may be the issue, you can try offering some assistance to lessen the financial burden on your neighbour.
    • Put up your own fence. If all attempts fail, you can consider erecting your own fence. However, this must be on your own property and as close to the boundary as possible.
How to tell which fence is yours?

If there’s a fence dividing yours and your neighbour’s properties that needs maintaining or replacing, you’ll want to know who owns it. Start by checking your deeds to see if there’s an existing boundary agreement. If there isn’t, have a chat with them to see if you can come to an arrangement yourselves.

Can I attach something to my neighbour’s fence?

There are a number of reasons why disputes can arise between neighbours – all of which can be quite frustrating and challenging. In some cases, this can even cause serious friction and lead to an all-out war. When it comes to the topic of fencing, one of the most common questions that arises is whether or not you can attach something to your neighbour’s fence. If you’re having the same concern, then you’ve come to the right place. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into this to help you make informed decisions moving forward. Let’s take a look!

The short and simple answer to this question is no, you can’t attach anything to your neighbour’s fence. If your neighbour owns the fence and you’ve not obtained any permission to do so, then you’re not allowed to attach anything to the fence. Otherwise, you can get into serious trouble with your neighbour as well as the law. If you want to attach something or have the wall on your side painted using another colour, then there’s the need to get a permission from the owner. And while doing so, make sure you’re provided with a written permission so as to avoid problems later in the future.

Another question that mostly arises is what if your neighbour declines your request, is there anything you can do about it? Well, the answer to this is no, there’s nothing you can do about it unless you’re able to convince your neighbour otherwise. And you should know starting a neighbour war or being spiteful can only make matters worse for you.

    How much does fencing cost?

The most basic fencing starts at about £27 per panel. But if you want something that’s more decorative and better quality, expect to budget £30-£40 per panel. If you choose to get a professional to help you put up your fencing, they’ll probably be able to get your panels at a cheaper rate.
