Sturminster Newton is a community as well as civil parish in the Blackmore Vale area of Dorset, England. It is positioned on a reduced limestone ridge in a meander of the River Stour. The town goes to the centre of a big dairy products farming area, around which the town's economic climate is built. The majority of the town (Sturminster) pushes the north side of the river, and includes most stores as well as services, whilst to the south is the smaller Newton. In between these two locations is a vast flood plain. The town was the home of poet and author William Barnes, as well as, for part of his life, Thomas Hardy. The community has 43 stores, a key as well as senior high school, as well as an institution as well as university food catering for kids with unique academic needs. In the 2011 census the town's civil parish had a population of 4,945. A market is kept in the community on Mondays. Among the biggest cattle markets in England utilized to be held right here, however it was closed in 1998 and currently in its area stands a housing estate and a 300-seat community arts centre called The Exchange. The town becomes part of the historical West Country Carnival circuit.
