Bembridge is a town and also civil parish located on the easternmost factor of the Isle of Wight. It had a population of 3,848 according to the 2001 census of the UK, leading to the doubtful insurance claim by some citizens that Bembridge is the biggest town in England. Bembridge is residence to a number of the Island's wealthiest homeowners. The population had reduced to 3,688 at the 2011 Census. Bembridge rests at the severe eastern factor of the Isle of Wight. Prior to land recovery the location of Bembridge and also Yaverland was practically an island, separated from the rest of the Isle of Wight by Brading Haven. On the Joan Blaeu map of 1665, Bembridge is shown as Binbridge I?le, almost separated from the rest of Wight by River Yar. Prior to the Victorian period Bembridge was a collection of wooden huts and farmhouses, which only combined into a real town with the structure of the church in 1827 (later on restored in 1846).
