East Cowes
East Cowes is a town and also civil parish to the north of the Isle of Wight, on the eastern financial institution of the River Medina alongside its neighbour on the west bank, Cowes. The two communities are attached by the Cowes Drifting Bridge, a chain ferryboat operated by the Isle of Wight Council. East Cowes is the site of Norris Castle, as well as Osborne House, the former summer season home of Queen Victoria and also Prince Albert. The Prince had a major impact on the architecture of the location, for instance on the structure of St Mildred's Church in close-by Whippingham, which features distinctive turrets imitating those located on a German castle.
