Calne
Calne is a town and civil parish in Wiltshire, southwestern England, at the north western extremity of the North Wessex Downs hill range. A designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Calne is located on a little river, the Marden, which rises 2 miles (3 kilometres) away in the Wessex Downs, and it is the only town on that river. As per the 2011 Census, Calne had a permanent population of 17,000 citizens. Since the end of the 1990s, Calne expanded dramatically in comparison to many other towns in the South West region. The Lansdowne Park housing development, finalised at the end of 2008, has considerably grown the physical size of the town, producing a completely new north-western suburban area.
