Brierley Hill

Brierley Hill is a little town and electoral ward of the Dudley Metropolitan Borough in the West Midlands of England. It's situated roughly 2.5 miles to the south of central Dudley and 2 miles north of Stourbridge. Brierley Hill was initially in Staffordshire, but is now part of the West Midlands metropolitan county since its creation in 1974. Part of the Black Country, and inside a heavily industrialised area of the Dudley Borough, it has a population of 14,000 inhabitants, as outlined by the 2011 census. Mostly a product of the Industrial Revolution, Brierley Hill features a comparatively modern history, with the original written records of the town going back to the 17th century. Originally established as a settlement within the woodland of Pensnett Chase, it began expanding rapidly after the chase's enclosure in 1748, and was initially displayed on a map in 1785 following the mapping of the Stourbridge Canal. The town is mostly identified for glass and steel manufacturing, though the industry has declined considerably since the 1970s. On the list of the biggest factories in the area was the Round Oak Steelworks, which was closed down and renovated in the 1980s to turn into the Merry Hill Shopping Centre. The Merry Hill Shopping Centre is situated immediately east of Brierley Hill. One of the largest shopping centres in the UK, it was built between 1985 and 1989 on the grounds of Merry Hill Farm, the last operating urban farm inside the West Midlands. Since 2008, Brierley Hill, including the close by Waterfront Business Park and Merry Hill Shopping Centre, has been officially named as the Strategic Town Centre of the Dudley Borough, with the purpose of creating a brand new town centre for the borough. For all of your property improvement tasks, make sure that you work with vetted experts in Brierley Hill to ensure that you get the best quality service.

How to tile an uneven wall?

How To Tile An Uneven Wall

Do you know it’s almost impossible to find a wall in any home that’s fully flat and vertical? Just like floors, walls also have areas of imperfection or where they’re a bit uneven. When it comes to tiling, these are the problematic areas in which you must work around and identify how to solve to achieve a perfect finish. If not, you may as well just have the tiles sticking out and making room for moisture to creep in affecting the longevity of your project.

There a variety of options to tackle an uneven wall surface and one of the best is plastering. To make sure the surface of your wall is even, a great step would be to plaster it. Plastering of a wall can be a very simple task, however, if you lack proper training or experience, you might want to consider getting a skilled professional to handle the project for you. Making sure the surface of your wall is even is a crucial step in the tile installation process and can be quite tricky on your first trial.

Uneven wall is usually as a result of two major factors - sagging of the wall over time and the wall’s surface is not completely flat. To solve this, you’d have to detach the boards. Then, attach a new board and re-skim the walls to create a new flat and even surface you can work on. For small imperfections and dips, simply use an adhesive cement to fill in the gaps in the plaster. This approach is perfect for holes and ding with a depth that’s not more than half a centimetre. When the cement is totally dry, you can sand it to achieve a flat finish. Happy Tiling!
